Sailing lesson underway

Sailing

Sailing lessons need a boat, a skipper, and a dock — not just a time slot

Seshana is scheduling software for sailing schools. A lesson is not booked until the instructor, the boat, and the weather window actually line up.

Calendly does not know which J/22 is in the water

Sailing programs fail in boring ways: two groups assigned to the same hull, an instructor who is already on a race-team practice, a junior week that still has unsigned parent forms at 8:55am.

Yacht clubs add another layer. The same dock runs members, intro courses, and private coaching. If those live in three different tools, Saturday morning is a negotiation.

A tide or a small-craft advisory does not care that your booking widget already took the deposit. You need the people, the boat, and the location on one board so you can move the lesson instead of arguing about who was told.

Run the program from the dock, not from inboxes

Locations, lesson types, instructors, and boats are first-class. The public widget sells what you actually have open — not a fake infinite calendar.

Boats as equipment, not a footnote

Track hulls the same way you track any gear: available, out, or down. Tie a checkout to the lesson so you are not guessing which boat left the slip.

Instructors with real availability

Invite coaches, take time-off, and assign by who can teach that course at that location. Double-books show up on the calendar before anyone walks down the ramp.

Weather at the harbor, not the city

Each location can carry its own conditions. You are looking at the field you sail from, with thresholds you set, instead of a consumer forecast for downtown.

Waivers and the widget

Parents and adults can sign before they show. Put the booking widget on the club or school site so intro courses fill without a paper clipboard at the office.

Questions owners actually ask

Will this replace our yacht club membership system?
No. Seshana is for lessons and the people who teach them. Keep your membership billing where it is. Use this for the instructional calendar.
Can we run junior week and adult privates in the same account?
Yes. Those are different lesson types, possibly different locations, on the same schedule. Instructors only see what you assign them.
Do students need an account to book?
Not for a simple widget booking. You still get the customer on file with contact info, history, and waiver status.
What if we teach at more than one harbor?
Add each as a location. Availability, weather, and widgets can be specific to that dock so a booking in one place does not steal a boat from the other.

See a sailing school already on the board

The demo is a sample business, not a sales call. Poke around, then start your own account when you are ready.
