Kiteboarding
Kite school scheduling that survives a no-wind morning
Seshana is lesson software for kite schools. When the wind dies at 7am, the board, the instructors, and the students need to move together — not via a group text.
The wind does not care about your Google Calendar
A kite school does not run like a yoga studio. You have a window, not a fixed slot. Instructors are already in the van. Students drove an hour. Then the forecast you checked at 10pm last night is wrong.
Most booking tools assume the appointment happens. Kite shops live in the opposite world: holds, last-minute level splits, a private that becomes a semi because two friends showed up, and a 12m that is still in the repair pile.
Spreadsheets and WhatsApp can limp through a slow Tuesday. They fall apart on a 20-knot Saturday when you have four instructors and a full beach.
What actually has to move when you cancel
Seshana keeps the lesson, the instructor, the location, and the customer on one record so a weather call is a change on the board — not a scavenger hunt.
Wind and weather on the location, not a phone widget
Each teaching spot can carry its own weather, wind, and tide read. You set advisory thresholds so a sketchy morning shows up on the schedule instead of in someone's head.
Instructors who can actually teach that lesson
Availability, location, and who is cleared for a given lesson type sit on the instructor — not in a notebook. Assigning a private to someone who is already on a group, or off that day, is visible before it hits the water.
Waivers before they hook in
Send the waiver with the booking. Track who has signed. You should not be chasing a PDF on the beach while the window is open.
Gear that is on a lesson, not in a pile
Kites, bars, and boards can be checked out against the lesson. You see what is out, what is down, and what you promised a student who is already on the sand.
Questions owners actually ask
- Can students book themselves, or do I still take every call?
- Either. Embed the booking widget on your site for live availability, or keep intake on the phone and put the lesson on the board yourself. Confirmations still go out either way.
- What happens when we kill the morning for wind?
- You change the lessons on the schedule and the people on those lessons get notified. It will not rebook the whole beach for you in one click — that is still a judgment call — but you are not texting each name off a paper list.
- Do I need Shopify?
- No. Shopify is there if you already sell packages in your store and want a paid booking to land on the calendar. Plenty of schools run without it.
- Is this only for big kite camps?
- No. Solo instructors use it. So do multi-spot schools. The difference is how many people you invite, not a different product.
